What I Actually Used Postpartum (Austin Mom Honest Essentials Guide)

No one really prepares you for postpartum.

You spend so much time getting ready for your baby—but not nearly enough time thinking about what you will need.

As an Austin mom and newborn photographer, I want to share what I actually used during postpartum—the things that made a real difference in my recovery and daily life.

Postpartum Recovery Essentials

These were non-negotiables for me:

Honey Pot cooling pads
Yes, they burn a little at first—but the cooling relief after is unmatched.

Peri bottle
You will use this constantly in the early days.

Mama Butter nipple cream
If you’re breastfeeding, this is a must.

🤍 Late Night Survival Must-Haves

No one talks about how hungry you are during night feeds.

I always kept:

  • Protein shakes

  • Heavenly Hunks

right by my bed. It made those long nights so much easier.

🤍 Breastfeeding Essentials That Actually Worked

Willow Go wearable pump
This was a game changer for me. I struggled with other wearable pumps and low output, but this one consistently gave me around 4–6 oz total.

Little Milk Bar nursing bras
Comfortable, easy to use, and supportive without being restrictive.

What Didn’t Work for Me

Not everything works for everyone—and that’s okay.

I personally struggled with some wearable pumps that didn’t have strong enough suction, which led to clogged ducts and frustration.

Finding what works for your body matters more than what’s trending.

📍 For Austin Moms

If you’re preparing for postpartum in Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, or Hutto—focus on comfort, simplicity, and support.

You don’t need a perfect routine. You just need the right tools.

🤍 Don’t Forget This Part

You matter too.

Take care of yourself in this season—and if you want to remember it forever, I’d love to document it through Jaden Canseco Photo.
